Self-service scanning – free at our book scanners
At our service points in both Stabi Berlin buildings, you can use the book scanners free of charge at 300 dpi and save bitonal or colour scans as PDF or JPG files on your own USB stick.
The book scanners are accessible throughout library opening hours. You do not need a copy card.
You can obtain a paper copy by printing scanned pages as you work.
This is possible at every scanner with a directly connected printer. Printing is on recycled paper.
To print, you need credit on a copy card, which you can buy and top up at our service desks during service hours or at the machine outside service hours.
Please note that the machine accepts banknotes only.
During service hours, you can pay by cash or card.
Digitising documents using self-service facilities
You can quickly scan your own loose documents into PDF files free of charge using the sheet feeder on the multifunction printers.
You need a copy card to unlock the device, plus a USB stick of up to 32 GB.
The documents must be free of staples and paper clips.
Scanning microforms
BiblioCopy does not currently offer free self-service microform scanning. We do accept orders to digitise microfiche and microfilm, from €0.30 per scan.
Stabi Berlin's free microfilm readers are located in the Potsdamer Straße reading room on the first floor; a freely accessible microfilm scanner is next to the book scanners.
In the Unter den Linden building Stabi Berlin provides modern microfilm scanners for research in the newspaper reading room. You can reserve a device online and will need a storage medium or USB stick.
