Photo: BiblioCopy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">For many years, <strong>BiblioCopy<\/strong> has supported Stabi Berlin (SBB) in delivering demanding digitisation projects. Responsible handling of unique collections is always the priority, combined with modern technology, exacting quality standards and efficient project management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Digitisation on demand (DoD) for valuable book collections<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">For more than ten years, BiblioCopy has contributed to <strong>Digitisation on Demand (DoD)<\/strong> at Stabi Berlin. This service enables users to request individual out-of-copyright works from valuable book collections in digital form. Careful handling protects the physical collection while providing fast and convenient access to the content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DoD for specialised information services (FID) at research libraries<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Since 2014, we have also supported <strong>specialised information services (FID)<\/strong> at research libraries with our digitisation services. This makes specialist literature sustainably accessible for research, regardless of location \u2013 an important contribution to the scholarly information infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Full digitisation in accordance with the DFG practical guidelines on digitisation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">Another focus is digitisation for the <a href=\"https:\/\/digital.staatsbibliothek-berlin.de\/\">Stabi Berlin's Digital Collections<\/a>. In this work, BiblioCopy follows the standards recommended by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfg.de\/resource\/blob\/176108\/898bf3574ad0ff3b1db525fa7d04c86c\/12-151-v1216-de-data.pdf\">practical guidelines<\/a>. These guidelines ensure the highest standards, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Image quality and formats:<\/strong> Lossless master files (such as TIFF) and access copies in widely used formats (such as JPEG and PDF).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Metadata standards:<\/strong> Structured capture of technical, administrative and descriptive metadata for sustainable use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Usability:<\/strong> Clear navigation and searchability to support efficient scholarly work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Long-term archiving:<\/strong> Sustainable preservation and reproducibility through standardised processes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This creates digital collections that not only meet today\u2019s requirements, but also remain usable for research and the public in the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Historic sources: \u2018Parlamentaria Preu\u00dfen\u2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">One example project in 2022 was the digitisation of the historical volumes of the <strong>\u2018Parlamentaria Preu\u00dfen\u2019<\/strong>, a series containing all session reports, printed papers and proceedings of the Prussian Landtag from 1921 to 1993. In addition to digitisation, BiblioCopy also carried out <strong>cataloguing the digital copies with basic structural metadata in Kitodo<\/strong>.
